Mendon is one of this area's fastest growing suburbs. Besides growing in population in recent years, it has the second highest median household income and home value in the area. It is known for great schools, community centers and its parks system, including Corbett's Glen nature park with beautiful woods and waterfalls. Brighton is active in the preservation of historic homes, gardens and open space. The center of town has long been the "Twelve Corners" intersection of Monroe Avenue, Elmwood Avenue and Winton Road.
