The Ottawa Herald is the only daily paper in Franklin County. It is published each afternoon Monday through Friday, and Saturday morning with its popular "Weekender" edition. Circulation is over 6000 daily. The Ottawa Times Shopper total market publication blankets the county by direct mail each Wednesday, with a circulation of over 14,500.Because it is so close to Lawrence and Kansas City, many area advertisers mistakenly expect that Franklin County residents will see their ads in those papers. The truth is that if advertising in the Lawrence Journal World, less than 5% of Franklin County will see it. If advertising in the KC Star, less than 8%, and in The Topeka Capital Journal, just over 4.5% of its entire county is covered.
