In the beginning, it was the Civil War that promoted the owners to launch The Vandalia Union. A quarter century later - in 1889 - the first issue of The Vandalia Leader rolled off the presses. Both papers have a long and distinguished record of service to the Vandalia community. They have been under common ownership since 1958 and were combined under The Leader Union in 1979.The Vandalia Leader-Union is in the Saint Louis, MO DMA. The Vandalia Leader-Union offers ROP and insert advertising opportunities in its daily circulation. This paper also offers total market coverage (TMC) through a non-subscriber distribution called the Fayette County Shopper.
