The Amsterdam News has proudly served the African-American community for almost a century. The newspaper was founded in 1909 to provide an editorial voice that would give Black New Yorkers a sense of their own worth. The Amsterdam News quickly satisfied people's need for a sense of community because it was, and is, fundamentally different from other print and broadcast media.Part of the BlackUSAPress network, this paper is one of New Yorks largest and most influential Black-owned and operated business institutions.The New York Amsterdam News is in the New York, NY DMA. The New York Amsterdam News is an African-American publication offering ROP and insert advertising opportunities in its daily circulation. The paper also distributes in Connecticut and New Jersey.
